Dyn Updater is not starting on login

I have Dyn Updater installed on two Macs (OS X 10.9.5 and and 10.10.4). Both apps are configured to "Automatically start on login", but that's not happening on either Mac. I've been able to work around this problem by manually adding Dyn Updater to System Preferences > Users & Groups > default account > Login Items. – Ward

After installing DYNDNS-updater, the attempt to login to my user account fails. It claims that User Name or Password are incorrect -- but they are, in fact, correct. I use them to login my account with a browser.

Latest QNAP firmware (4.2 RC4) fails with built-in client trying to connect to "www.dyndns.com". Doesn't give a reason. Any coordination between Dyn and QNAP on this?

Multiple instances of updater on boot

Using DYNUpdater v. 5.2.0 on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 Sometimes, not always, when I boot the PC I end up with 2 instances of dynupdater.exe running in the process list, and this causes the DYNUpdater program window to appear on the screen with the endlessly spinning circle icon typical to Win7, indicating it isn't able to fully load. I have found through experience that I can use the Task Manager to End Process Tree on each instance of dynupdater.exe in the process list, then using the Start menu, attempt to start DYNUpdater again. Often that fixes it. Sometimes it does not, and I have to repeat this over and over again until it does fix it. If that seems not to be happening after many attempts, rebooting will usually help. Since my Win7 OS runs from a SSD, I also use Startup Delayer to slow down some apps starting up, which have problems starting because things happen so quickly. I have tried telling Startup Delayer to hold off starting DYNUpdater for 2 minutes at first, and then for 4 minutes in later attempts, to try to avoid any program clashes during boot, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. How can I put a stop to this?

DynUpdater broken

The app launches at startup, but it no longer shows the icon on my finder bar, so there is no way to access the app options. The app window is blank (no hostnames listed) & the refresh button does nothing. It has been like this for a couple of days after several reboots. I tried to re-install the app, but i can't as it is running & since the app icon is gone I can't quit the app either... & since it is not a regular app it doesn't show as a running program so i can't force quit it. Mac OS 10.10.5, DynUpdater v5.2.1

Dyn Updater keeps becoming unresponsive.

Recently the Dyn Updater app becomes unresponsive on my MacMini (10.11.4). When I put the curser over the icon in the task bar it shows a blue spinning disc. I can't force quit as it doesn't show on the list. I have to reboot the Mac to clear it. Is it not fully compatible with the latest Mac OS? Colin

Now i spend 40 Bugs (it was 20 Bugs) per Year and the quality of Dyn Service gone realy bad per Year. I think about another Service ... thanks byebye.

Dyn Updater service stops - Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2

I'v just recently 'updated' my old Windows Server 2003 to "Server Essentials 2012 R2" and having a very tough time getting Dyn Updater (v5.3.0) to 'work' all of a sudden. It SEEMED to install properly just after I did this 'upgrade' roughly three weeks ago, but now (after some recent 'updates' to Windows Server 2012 over this past weekend) the Updater 'window' never - well... updates. I just get the Windows 'spinning wheel of doom' for QUITE a while and the list of hosts never appears. As I mentioned, this all seemed to happen after the latest 'updates' from our friends in Redmond, which then leads me to believe one (or more) of these 'security updates' has "broken" Dyn Updater on this server system. If I take a look at 'services' (services.msc), I see that the 'Dyn Updater service' is 'stopped', and if I try to 'manually' start it (right-click - START), it pops up a message that tells me it stopped almost immediately and this can happen if an app is not using the service (or something to that effect, because NOW - after I tried to 'manually' start the service about six times, it seems to be 'running' finally, altho my list of hosts still doesn't 'update'. Dyn's own little 'connection circle' continues to 'spin' forever..). So.. what have "The Boys" done to my system *now*... I've tried my best to 'allow' the Dyn Updater thru the firewall, thinking this had something to do with it (allowed for both domain and private networks but not public networks), but it just isn't happening. A 'clue' from anyone..? It'd be nice if these damnable 'updates' left things operational afterwards, but then that's another "tub of worms", isn't it..?

Why does DynUpdater need to override my Ethernet Adapter settings?

$

I recently had a problem with my VPN software not working properly and I traced the cause to Windows Dynupdater overriding my default Ethernet adapter DNS server address from "Obtain Automatically" to a fixed IP address located in Manchester NH, coincidentally where dyndns is located. I solved the problem by uninstalling Dynupdater but it still begs the question - why does it do that? Further - can I turn it off so that dynupdater and my VPN can co-exist in the same computer?

Cannot install dyn updater

Trying to install latest Dyn updater (Version 5.4.2), on a Windows 10 machine, but get the error message "The older version of Dyn Updater cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group." I have removed all visible previous instances of Dyn Updater from my computer, and I have also removed - to the best of my knowledge - all relevant entries in the registry. But still no success.

Question to the real Experts: Update IP Address via another Gateway

I have a normal network with a DSL-Router. To get access to a camera server from outside I want to integrate an additional LTE-Router (our DSL upload is too slow) . This LTE-Router can only do VPN (all "not-PPTP or not-IPSec Pakets" are aborted). Unfortunately this router has a dynamic public IP. The built in DynDNS-Clinet is therefore not able to send the update to the DynDNS-Service Host because there is no Internet-connection (only VPN over external clients). **My Question:** **Is there a way to install a DynDNS-Clinet in my network which inquires the actual IP address of the LTE Router and the sending it via the other DSL Router to the DynDNS Host ??** Looking forward to your suggestions!! Cheers from good old Germany, Benselma

My computer has 5 2TB HDD's. 3 of then have operating systems on them, 1 has XP Pro, 1 has Windows 7 32 bit and 1 has Windows 7 64 bit. My main system is Windows 7 32 bit. At start up I have these 3 options to boot to. I already have the DynUpdater on the XP Pro. The updater will install on the windows 7 64 bit but will not install on the Windows 7 32 bit. I get this message (See attachment) First I typed run and found the DynUpdater.msi and tried to install it. Got the message in the attachment. I them tried this Right-click the downloaded DynUpdater.msi file and select "Copy." Go back to the Windows Explorer main window and create a folder on the C: drive named "MyMSI." Open the folder and paste the MSI file into it by right-clicking and selecting "Paste." Click the Windows Start icon in the lower left corner of the desktop and select "All Programs." Choose "Accessories" and right-click on the "Command Prompt" icon. Choose "Run as Administrator" to open the DOS command prompt with administrator rights. Type "C:\Windows\System32\msiexec.exe -i C:\MyMSI\DynUpdater.msi" into the command prompt. Press enter. I got the same message as the attachment. Any help would be appreciated. I asked this from DYN support as I am a VIP customer but did not get a reply. [1]: /storage/temp/1220-image1.jpg

After just updating to Mac OS X 10.12.4 and after the reboot the Dyn Updater icon disappeared from the menu bar. It's still running according to the Activity Monitor & I am able to access my DNS remotely, but I can't check the status nor access any preferences since the icon is no longer in my menubar. I have uninstalled & reinstalled and rebooted several times too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Three domains - 2 on one ip and one on another.

I have 2 domains on one ip and one on another. Two machines running on two different locations - both running dynupdater using the same account. On the 2 domain machine I have checked the two domains in the configuration but not the third that shows up on my account, and vice versa on the one-domain machine. Still the two machine dynupdater gets to override the third (and "single") host and gives it the ip of the two others. What am I doing wrong?
